In 1929, Maurice S. Walker expanded his local pharmaceutical business into flavorings, extracts and syrups. Officially incorporated in 1931, M.S. Walker initially set up shop in Boston’s South End neighborhood. After the repeal of Prohibition in 1933, the company expanded into the production and distribution of alcoholic beverages.
Future generation’s imagination and creativity began a tradition of ground-breaking conceptual product development and marketing that has continued with each succeeding generation. Through perseverance, salesmanship and hard work, the company has continued to grow nationwide.
M.S. Walker entered the business of fine wine distribution during the “wine boom” of the 1960’s & 1970’s. Growth was focused on small estates and emerging regions, with an emphasis on value. The company successfully introduced its own brands of popular wines, which led to the expansion of the portfolio. Over the years, M.S. Walker has achieved dynamic growth for its wine and spirits portfolio, to be recognized among the most important in the industry.
The strength of both the M.S. Walker Wine and Spirits Portfolio has aided in the development of an extensive brokerage and wholesale network throughout the country.

Pierce in 1991, Caldwell’s in 1992, Global Horizon Rhode Island Distributorship in 2001, multiple spirit brands from White Rock Distilleries in 2011 and John L. Sullivan Irish Whiskey in 2017.
In 2013, M.S. Walker founded MSW NY & NJ. In 2017, the Company relocated corporate headquarters to Norwood, MA and opened the doors to its new, state-of-the-art bottling facility in Boston, MA. In 2019, M.S. Walker completed the purchase of Winebow Massachusetts and Winebow Rhode Island, re-branding the former as Boston Wine Company.
