As if Sepp Mantler and family were literally rooted to the soil, their commitment to the vineyard, the growth of the vines and the cellar is an annual rebirth driven by the challenge of weather, soil, and passion. The Mantlerhof winery has been an active farm for over 600 years, when under the ownership of the Styrian Admont Monastery. It is here, nestled directly below the terraces that rise above Gedersdorf. The Mantlerhof winery has forged a path cultivating Roter Veltliner, Neuburger and expressing some of the most historic and qualitative sites of Grüner Veltliner and Riesling primarily on löss soils.
Organic farming has been a staple and precedent for more than 30 years, and the tradition carries on now stronger than ever.
Visit Brand WebsiteThis is a perfect example of well structured, powerful but straight Grüner Veltliner. Round melon, clear notes of ripe orchard fruits, pepper. Immense maturing potential.
A cool, fresh example of Grüner Veltliner. The nose is inviting with snow peas, pear and ripe apple and the palate expresses the traditional Löss minerality.
Fermented in large oak barrels with its own yeasts. Varietal characteristics fade into the background and display the minerality of deep löss soils. In the foreground, a vivid and exciting structure of tannins meets a tightly woven body. Unfiltered and minimal sulfur addition.
As traditional as the varietal gets, with notes of green apple, citrus, hints of pepper, and pear. Flinty minerality and lush finish.
White meat, fish and shellfish would love to bathe in our Steingraben. Oysters and freshwater fish come to mind here. Also cuts a fine figure without food accompaniment and has a persistent drinking flow. Mature soft cheeses.
